I Don’t Really Like You But!

18 Dec

I am writing this post because of a situation that I encounter almost everyday. I am the manager of a cell phone store now, therefore I am supposed to know everything that goes around my store and be on top of my employees. I come early, open the store, make sure that all things are in place and that everyone is there on time. But the issue is that I have this sort of employees who, as one of my professors said, would come to work just like a wife comes to her husband and says “ you know what, I don’t really like you, but you take care of my expenses so I will stay in your life”.!

Say Cheeez!!

I worked as a translator in Abu Dhabi – UAE in a government institution for almost 10 months, and among the office boys in my department, there was one who is called Shaheen.  I have never come to work, not even one day, and found him frowning, the moment he looks at you he draws this big smile which will force you to smile back! And take this, he used to work from 7:00 am to 4:30 pm for 694 Dollars a MONTH!!.

Everyone in life has issues but why so serious!, why don’t you think positively and try to make your day and others’  happy ones. Try this next time you go to work; be on time, say to yourself “today I am going to enjoy my work and be  the best employee!”. Say good morning from your heart with a big smile and motions will create emotions!. Every man looks at his business as his wife or girlfriend, because it is supposed to make them happy! If you are that frowning employee, you are just like the abovementioned wife; it is like saying to your boss: ‘I really don’t like your work but I just show up at work to get the paycheck at the end of the week!

It is not wrong that you don’t like your job, a lot of us including myself sometimes or most of the times think that this job is “not what I like to do” or “not what I deserve”, but I look at it this way; God created me and gave me a soul, so I have three options:

1-      I live my life happily or at least try to be and achieve my goals

2-      I live my life miserably and curse my luck everyday

3-      Kill myself!

Let’s apply this to work:

1-      I work in my dream career and if not I take the advantage of any job and try to make it to my goals

2-      I don’t do any work properly and I am irresponsible and known as a whining fest!

3-      I don’t work at all and depend on government aids

Winston Churchill said “Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference”. If you think that you can’t do this simple act of (smiling) and be positive about your work, then quit your job, there are a lot of people who would be happy to do the work.

Very nice & inspiring. Actually, everyday I try my best to keep smiling. Still having difficulties, but you have encouraged me more. Thanks for sharing this :)

Thanks for your encouraging comment also :)

I try to stay a smile as much as possible, and when I don’t feel like it, I just fake one, it is still better than a frowning face!?
